Are you hosting SpeedQuizzing face to face with players in the same building as you? If so then yes. If you wish to host SpeedQuizzing remotely over ZOOM (or similar) then you require SpeedQuizzing WEB.
Depending on the configuration of the WiFi network, it may work in some cases, but for larger public events it is very likely it wont. The important thing to know is that we do not support this method.
Reliability. It will minimise the danger of losing connections between laptop and player’s smart devices. However we get plenty of feedback from customers who ignore this advice and report perfectly good results connecting the laptop to the hub over WiFi rather than Ethernet.
No. The SpeedQuizzing hubs do not connect to the internet at all. Attempting to do so well cause serious problems
A Red router icon indicates that SpeedQuizzing can not detect either a SpeedQuizzing Hub or any other network of any kind.
An Orange router icon indicates that SpeedQuizzing detects a network of some kind but not a SpeedQuizzing hub.
A Green router icon indicates that you are connected to a SpeedQuizzing Hub / Router.
A Blue router icon indicates that you are connected to a SpeedQuizzing pre-configured configured Ruckus network. (From SQPRO V5)
NO. All necessary visuals are displayed on the handset screen itself and all questions are read aloud by the host.
Yes the LiveScreen feature is a comprehensive optional feature and can display various elements including the Scoreboard, questions/answers and picture questions.
Creating a user account is the first step to hosting a SpeedQuizzing event. Once you have signed up you can authorise your laptop, and pay for SpeedQuizzing Credits which you will ultimately use to book an activation. Without doing this you will be unable to host events with more than four handsets connected.
Once installed on a PC or Mac the SpeedQuizzing software must be authorised (assigned to a particular user account) and given a name before an Activation can be booked.
Yes, as many as you wish. It is encouraged to have a backup machine authorised with the SpeedQuizzing software installed when hosting professional events.
Yes. Click on the button that either says either Demo or Activated in the top right hand corner of the software, then click the red Reauthorise button.
An Activation is for a specific date which will enable a specific authorised computer to run SpeedQuizzing out of demo mode (removes the four device limit). All Activations will include a Quizpack.
A Quizpack is a set of 61 trivia questions, split into three rounds of 20 questions, plus a bonus Nearest Wins question. One Quizpack comes free with every SpeedQuizzing Activation.
No.
No. When you have exhausted the demo questions included with the SpeedQuizzing installation, your options are to either create your own content, or to book a professional Activation including a Quizpack for a specific date.
Yes, once a SpeedQuizzing Quizpack is on your computer, the files will stay in Your Quizzes folder indefinitely to use time and again.
The first step is to pay for three or more Credits. These then sit indefinitely in your account until you use (three at a time) to book an Activation. This allows you to take advantage of the ‘bundle’ price breaks without any time restrictions as to when you use the Activations.
The first reason is that until you install / download the Activation you can log back into the website and change details such as the event date, Quizpack specifics and which authorised computer you plan to use to host the quiz. However, once you have downloaded or installed the Activation, all of these things become difficult to reverse.
Secondly, because each Quizpack contains a number of current affairs questions, some questions could actually be factually incorrect if too large an amount of time has passed since it was downloaded.
Yes. Using the online Question Manager allows you to create and edit your own Quizpacks as well as SpeedQuizzing Quizpacks. Log in to the Members Area at SpeedQuizzing.com and click Question Manager.
No. We now have three different types of Quizpack. UK, US and Universal.
Traditional trivia questions and picture questions covering all subjects including sport, geography, history, popular culture, music, film, TV and general knowledge. The questions range in difficulty from easy, medium, hard.
In the Keypad game there is a little bit more to grasp for the players than in the other games and therefore we feel it warrants the on-screen visuals in conjunction with reading out the “Game rules” to explain the game. Just clicking and reading out the “Game Rules” should suffice for the Buzzin’ and Nearest Wins games.
All other radio equipment in your area including neighbouring WiFi networks are competing for the same frequency airspace.
Getting your Hub above head height and as central in the room as possible can really help.
A basic understanding of how to adjust your Hub’s wireless channel setting will rectify most problematic situations. The button on the side of a Pocket Hub toggles through WiFi channels 1, 6,11.
If a particular phone won’t connect to the Quiz Network, the first thing to try is to turn the device’s Mobile Data off for the duration of the quiz. Other than that, sadly we can’t police the quality of the Wifi performance of every different tablet or phone. However in most instances, if a particular device is acting strange, totally turning off the unit and turning it back on again can often iron out issues, as can making sure no other apps are running in the background.
This is only allowed under special circumstances at the discretion of a SpeedQuizzing operator but don’t panic! Log into your SpeedQuizzing account and click ‘Booked Activations‘, ‘Change Booking‘. Here you can make the relevant changes. However this process can only be performed a limited number of times and suspected abuse will result in your account being suspended.
